On Women 1995
Maureen traveled to China as a delegate to the U.N. Conference on Women in 1995 in Beijing. This was a seminal turning point in worldwide rights for women and children.
That conference raised awareness of hundreds of issues, from female genital mutilation and child sex trafficking to sexual harassment in the workplace and the presence of "Korean Comfort Women", survivors of Japan's incarceration of them as sex slaves.
